2017 Annual Packington Horticultural Show

What a fabulous turnout we had for the 75th Anniversary Show raising a whopping £2013,55 for our chosen charity, Help for Heroes.

The day started as always the committee members opening the doors at 8am prompt to start booking in entries and they were kept busy right up till the doors closed at 1pm.  The RHS judges then worked there way round, awarding 1st, 2nd and 3rd in all categories along with some "highly commended" cards too.  Once the judges were finished, there was time for a quick cuppa before moving outside where the crowds had gathered , eagerly awaiting to view the entires.  But first, with the sun shining down on us, long time supporter Brian Cockett said a few words ready for The Royal British Legion to lower the standard in memorial of all those who served so gallantly. 

Our chairman, Bob Parry, then announced the 75th show officially open and held the doors  back for the public to enter.  

It was a hive of activity as adults and children alike worked there way round the mountains of carefully grown fruit, veg and flowers, the beautifully baked cakes and breads and of course the marvellous array of children's entries and fabulous photos!  

With the bar open and freshly baked pizza's aplenty, the atmosphere was buzzing.  The auction was a s always, entertainment in it's own right with people digging deep to win each lot.  It was a quick turn round from the auction to get the stage set for the very fabulous Harmony Belle (who you can see a clip of below) who sang a beautiful array of hits from the forties.  The hall was alive with song and dance and a good time was had by all and I'm sure many happy memories were made.
